SIX DECADES OF R.C. BELGAUM

The Rotary saga in Belgaum began in the year 1941 with the formation of Rotary Club of Belgaum on the 5 th December 1941, with 18 members. After 59 years of continuous community service, the club has 75 members apart from another 100 members in Rotary Club of Belgaum Midtown and Rotary Club of Belgaum South. The three Rotary clubs of Belgaum supported by their respective Rotaract, Interact and Innerwheel Clubs are administered under the Rotary District 3170 under the present leadership of District Governor Rtn.. Mahendra Mutha. 

The Rotary District 3170 consists of 4 districts of North Karnataka viz. Belgaum, Hubli-Dharwar, Bijapur and Karwar, 4 districts of South Maharashtra namely Kolhapur, Sangli, Sindhudurg , Ratnagiri and the entire state of GOA.

The Rotary Club of Belgaum, the second oldest club of the district, is a leading club engaged in Community, Vocational and International service.

IMPORTANT PROJECTS 

The club has sponsored Child Welfare centers, Village water supply schemes, Blood banks etc. Every year the club organizes Career Guidance Seminars, Science Exhibition, Industrial Exhibition, Food Festival and various competitions for school and college children. Our club also organizes Medical Check up Camps and Dental Camps every month.

Swimming Pool: The Rotary Swimming pool was constructed in the year 1972 when Rtn. Nahni Kapadia of R.C. Belgaum was the District Governor. It is the only swimming pool in Belgaum where Swimming Coaching camps and Competitions are conducted throughout the year. 

Children Art Competition: In association with Indian Oil Company, our Club organizes Children Art Competition in which more than 2000 school children participate every year. 

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA):  Our Club conducts RYLA camps for the school and College students in the age group of 14 to 22. Adventure RYLA is organized once a year.

Sleeping Children Around the World ( SCAW): Every year our Club distributes 500 Slumber kits to poor and needy children from villages around Belgaum. The Slumber Kits are sponsored by the Canadian Organization "Sleeping Children Around the World". Our Members go to these remote villages and select the children after careful study. These children are then given the kits which include clothes, school material, bed, bucket, tiffin box, shoes, sweater etc. We also organize Free Medical Check up camp for these children followed by corrective surgery if required.
